Resolution to Ban Sharia Law in the State of Wyoming

WHEREAS, the United States Constitution and the Wyoming State Constitution is the only law of the land; and


WHEREAS, several states have passed laws or constitutional amendments that restrict the use of foreign law, including aspects of Islamic law, in state courts; and


WHEREAS, sharia as defined and understood by traditional and authoritative sharia scholars and leaders, is a legal-political-military doctrinal system combined with certain religious beliefs: further sharia is based historically and traditionally on a full corpus of law and jurisprudence termed fiqh and usual al-fiqh, respectively, dealing with all aspects of a sharia-adherent's personal and social life and political society. Sharia serves as national and local law in several foreign jurisdictions; and


WHEREAS, sharia requires alt its adherents to actively and passively support the replacement of America's constitutional republic, including the representative government of this state with a political system based upon sharia; and


WHEREAS, the threat from sharia-based jihad and terrorism presents a real and present danger to the lawful governance of this state and to the peaceful enjoyment of citizenship by the residents of this state; and


WHEREAS, many tenets of sharia directly contradict basic human rights defined in the United States Constitution and Wyoming State Constitution i.e. unequal rights for women, child marriage, domestic violence; and


WHEREAS, punishment examples for violation of sharia Law include amputation, stoning, and flogging,


THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, the Wyoming Republican Party calls upon our House and Senate representatives to form a bill to ban the practicing or allowance for sharia law in the State of Wyoming.
