America First Foreign Policy

WHEREAS, “the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God” entitle each people to a “separate and equal station among the powers of the earth” in order to “secure their safety and happiness;” and,

WHEREAS, “We the People of the United States” established the U.S. Constitution to “secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our posterity;” and,

WHEREAS, “We, the people of the State of Wyoming” established the Wyoming Constitution to secure “civil, political, and religious liberties [...] to ourselves and perpetuate them to our posterity;” and,

WHEREAS, George Washington advised America to “steer clear of permanent Alliances, with any portion of the foreign world,” and predicted that “interweaving our destiny with that of any part of Europe” would “entangle our peace and prosperity in the toils of European Ambition, Rivalship, Interest, Humour or Caprice;” and,

WHEREAS, John Quincy Adams declared that America “goes not abroad in search of monsters to destroy,” affirming that “she is the well-wisher to the freedom and independence of all,” but “the champion and vindicator only of her own;” and,

WHEREAS, since the year 2000 the American electorate has frequently favored presidential candidates who disavow nation-building adventures, commit to concluding open-ended wars on terms favorable to the United States, and promise to bring our troops home; now, therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED that the Wyoming Republican Party supports greater realism and restraint in foreign policy; a renewed commitment to the domestic peace, prosperity, and self-sufficiency of our own nation; and a return to the foreign policy principles of the American Founders.
