WHEREAS, Wyoming State Government has over 200 various boards, commissions, and councils, including the Transportation Commission which oversees WYDOT, and the Wyoming Game & Fish Commission which oversees the WGFD, the State Board of Education, the Palliative Care Advisory Council, and the Governor’s Food Safety Council, just to name a few; and
WHEREAS, the Wyoming State Government situation is a small mirror of the Federal government situation, and
WHEREAS, some of these boards are self-funded through precious user fees and
direct taxation, but some are government funded from the General Fund; and
WHEREAS, the members of these boards, commissions and councils are unelected and often nothing more than patronage appointment opportunities for cronies or relatives of the incumbent governor, past governors, favorite legislators, Republican & Democrat, as well as sitting Directors of these boards, commissions, and councils; and
WHEREAS, the Wyoming legislature is currently considering the elimination of six
boards and commissions (SF49), which is a modest start to streamlining this area of governance; and
BE IT RESOLVED, that the Wyoming Republican Party supports the elimination of
many if not all these frivolous and obsolete boards, commissions, and councils; and
BE IT RESOLVED, that the Wyoming Republican Party supports the elimination of
gubernatorial appointments, and instituting direct elections, by districts, of the State Board of Education, the Wyoming Game & Fish Dept. (WGFD), and the Wyoming Transportation Department (WYDOT); and
BE IT RESOLVED, that the Wyoming Republican Party supports the elimination of all these frivolous and obsolete boards, commissions, and councils at the Federal level.
