Resolution to Delist the Grizzly Bear

1. WHEREAS, grizzly bear populations have reached levels in Wyoming that are higher than what was determined to be needed to be considered recovered from being endangered, and
2. WHEREAS, grizzly bear sightings are a daily if not multiple times a day occurrence in many areas, and
3. WHEREAS, local outfitters are losing significant revenue because clients are choosing to not hunt in areas where the grizzlies are overpopulated, and
4. WHEREAS, those same hunters are losing privileges to utilize federally managed and state managed lands for which taxes are collected and expended, and
5. WHEREAS, conflicts between livestock and grizzly bears created a financial burden for producers, as the conflict often results in injury and death to the livestock,
6. WHEREAS, the Wyoming Republican Party Platform, as passed by the 2024 Convention identifies in Plank 3 that “Individuals must never be prevented from defending life, liberty, or property,” and further identifies in Plank 4 that “Every individual has the right to develop his own potential, to use and enjoy his own property, to use and enjoy his own property, tangible and intellectual, ….”
A. Therefore, be it Resolved, be it known, be it heard, that the Wyoming Republican Party supports the delisting of the grizzly bear and requests our elected representatives at all levels to work toward responsible management practices including ability for defense of self and property, and the right to defend against infractions of the enjoyment of one’s own property by the use of grizzly bears as an arbitrary economic force against those individuals,
B. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, the Wyoming Republican Party calls upon the Wyoming Republican Party Chairman to transmit this resolution immediately to our Congressman and Women, our Governor, Secretary of State, State Treasurer, State Auditor, and Superintendent of Public Instruction, the Leadership of both the Wyoming House and Senate, and our County Commissioners. We respectfully request that our Congressional Delegation immediately pursue delisting action through Legislation, and we further respectfully request that our Congressional Delegation work with President Trump and his Executive Team to assure that wildlife and the natural environment are not used as arbitrary economic forces against the People of the United States.
