Whereas, the Wyoming Republican Party Platform plank 4 state that we support the protection of private land rights, and
Whereas, we find the Buffalo Commons concept to be similar to the reintroduction of wolves in Yellowstone National Park and intended to do away with cattle or decrease the value of cattle ranches, and it seeks to increase buffalo populations across the west by creating corridors for buffalo, and
Whereas, Yellowstone National Park culls the buffalo herd in the Park by providing those buffalo to entities across the western United States, and the Yellowstone herd has historically been know to have brucellosis, and
Whereas, counties in Wyoming are currently brucellosis free and desire to stay that way,
Now, therefore be it resolved, the Wyoming Republican Party is in opposition to the Buffalo Commons concept, and
Be it also resolved, we request the Wyoming Legislature and our Congressional Delegation to enact laws prohibiting all state or federal agencies from providing funding, assistance to, or access for the Buffalo Commons, and
Be is also resolved, we request the Wyoming Legislature to address adequate fencing surrounding buffalo and provide legislation requiring proof of brucellosis free status for all buffalo being transported through or around the state.
