WHEREAS the primary election process in Wyoming and throughout the United States is being manipulated by opposition parties to negatively impact the selection of candidates to represent the Republican party in the general election; and
WHEREAS in the 2022 primary election 12,743 Democrats changed their party affiliation to Republican in an attempt to influence the outcome of the Hageman Cheney race; and
WHEREAS the attempt to influence the Hageman Cheney race by the Wyoming Democratic Party was unsuccessful, it did have a negative influence on other state and local elections; and
WHEREAS political parties should be able to select their own candidates free of interference and manipulation by outside entities. Now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED that the Wyoming Republican Party urges the Wyoming Legislature to amend Wyoming 22-5-214 as follows:
