WHEREAS, our state government used their licensing power to control openings
and closing during the pandemic.
WHEREAS, they did so in an inequitable manner, allowing some businesses to
remain open and forcing some businesses to close.
WHEREAS, Yelp data (https://www.yelpeconomicaverage.com/business-closures-
update-sep-2020.html) indicates that 60% of those businesses forced to close
during what was deemed and emergency are permanently closed and
WHEREAS, licensing is an expense for all business, and
WHEREAS, Republicans believe in affordability, the dignity of work, strong
communities, and the rights of individuals; and
BE IT RESOLVED, to limit business licensing requirements in Wyoming, opening up this state to a freer economy not controlled by unelected departments and/or
bureaucrats.
