Elimination of Taxes on Firearms



WHEREAS, The Second Amendment of the United States Constitution affirms that, "A well- regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."


WHEREAS, The Wyoming Constitution affirms and expands in Article one Sec 24, "The right of citizens to bear arms in defense of themselves and of the state shall not be denied."


WHEREAS, The Wyoming Republican Party Platform #3 further supports,

"The right of individuals to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed. Individuals must never be prevented from defending life, liberty or property.";


WHEREAS, The Right to keep and Bear arms is an Individual right;


WHEREAS, A "Tax" or "Taxation" on the purchase of Firearms and or Components related to, is a Direct Infringement upon the Individual and his natural, God-given Rights;


WHEREAS, "A power to tax differentially, as opposed to a power to tax generally, gives a government a powerful weapon against the taxpayer selected. When the State imposes a generally applicable tax, there is little cause for concern. We need not fear that a government will destroy a selected group of taxpayers by burdensome taxation if it must impose the same burden on the rest of its constituency." Commissioner of Revenue;


WHEREAS, We must be Sacrosanct in our Pursuit to Protect all natural Rights which are memorialized in our federal and state Constitutions;


THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Wyoming Republican Party strongly opposes all taxes related to the purchase of Firearms and Firearm Components;


BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Wyoming Republican Party requests the Wyoming Legislature to draft and pass legislation that eliminates all taxes related to the purchase of firearms and their components; and


BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Wyoming Republican Party requests the Governor of Wyoming to sign legislation which supports the abolition of all taxes related to the purchase of Firearms and firearm components.
