WYOMING GOP CONVENTION ATTRACTS STANDING ROOM ONLY CROWD

APRIL 14, 2016

The Parkway Plaza Convention Center is at standing room only levels in anticipation of Saturday’s 2016 Wyoming Republican State Convention where the State GOP’s final 14 delegates to the National Convention will be selected.

GOP Presidential candidate Senator Ted Cruz will speak to the delegates Saturday morning while Idaho Governor Butch Otter will represent candidate John Kasich and former Governor Sarah Palin will speak for Donald Trump.

While having a number of high profile political personalities appear at the convention is a first for a Wyoming GOP convention, it has also brought about a sell-out crowd with very limited space available for the Saturday morning session.

Wyoming GOP Chairman Matt Micheli said,

While nothing would please me more than to have every single person who wants to see these speakers in person be able to, safety measures within the convention area must be respected and observed. While we have very limited space available, and there are no guarantees, we will try to get in as many as possible. The 2016 GOP presidential race has placed Wyoming in the middle of the nomination fray, and the impact of Wyoming’s 29 delegates, while always important, has risen to another level. For that reason and more, we will be live streaming the Saturday session of the convention for the first time ever. It has always been my intention of making this convention process as open and transparent as possible, and by putting the process in front of all those interested, either in person or on the web, I think we accomplish that goal.

The Wyoming GOP 2016 Convention process begins Thursday with meetings of the Platform and Resolutions Committees.

Friday continues with the Bylaws, Nominations, and Credentials Committees.

The Saturday convention begins at 8am and will continue throughout the day and gavel out around 4:30pm. The national candidates are expected to speak between 10-11am.
