HB 066 Lodging Tax - This bill passed out of the Senate Committee of the Whole today. READ THIS BILL CAREFULLY and call your legislators with questions or concerns.
This bill will put a statewide tax on lodging services, including services provided outfitters and guides, lodging, including campsites, at county and state fair grounds, and at state parks and cultural centers offering overnight stays. It revises the current law which allowed but didn't impose a lodging tax. Revenues from this tax will go into a newly created account strictly for Wyoming tourism. Appropriations from this fund to counties will be proportional to the amount collected in that county.
LSO_Purpose: “AN ACT relating to sales tax; imposing a statewide tax on sales of lodging services; providing for distribution of the tax collected; revising the local optional lodging tax; repealing conflicting provisions; repealing the lodging tax exemption for outfitters and guides; creating the Wyoming tourism account; providing for implementation of the new tax; and providing for an effective date.”
