Wyoming GOP Celebrates the U.S. Marine Corps
Today we want to wish America's U.S. Marine Corps a Happy Birthday.
We express our gratitude the the many vigilant men and women across Wyoming who have served our country as Marines.
We'd like to highlight a Marine who is extra-special to the Wyoming GOP, Party Treasurer Douglas "Doug" Chamberlain. The Goshen County Rancher went to college on a basketball scholarship in pursuit of a teaching degree. In 1965 he was drafted to serve during the Vietnam war. He elected to join the Marines officer candidate program which took him to Vietnam in 1967 as a newly promoted first lieutenant. His company commander was killed shortly after their arrival and Chamberlain was assigned as the company commander of Echo Company of 2nd Battalion/7th Marines.
Chamberlain's experiences while serving our country are vast, brave and exciting. We encourage you to pull him aside and visit with him about those experiences. Chamberlain arrived home in 1969 and has been a stalwart in the Torrington and Lagrange communities since. He served the state as a legislator and eventually as Speaker of the House from 1993-95.
Thank you for your service, Doug and thank you to all of our Central Committee Members as well as men and women throughout the state who served.
