🎩 Medicaid expansion is often dressed up to look nice, but in reality it is a disaster both in terms of state budgets and medical outcomes. 💣
👨⚕️ Medicaid promises people health coverage, yet because of the way that it is structured and funded, it more often blocks access to quality doctors.
🚑 The current Medicaid program too often actually denies patients access to care, as about 40% of primary care doctors do not accept Medicaid patients because the reimbursements are so low.
🏥 Studies show patients on Medicaid often have worse outcomes after major surgeries, have higher child mortality rates, and use emergency rooms even more than people without insurance.
💲 Supporters of medicaid expansion love to tout “It’s free money.” As Republicans, we know there's no such thing as “free money.” We all pay. Other states around the country took the “free money” for medicaid expansion, only to later figure out all of the additional strings attached, the cost to the state once the federal funds ran out, and the actual cost that the state would have to cover as a result of underestimating the number of people that would sign up.
💣Medicaid expansion has always been a bad idea. Under the current administration in Washington, DC, it could be catastrophic for the State of Wyoming.💣
This bad policy has not improved with time.
